Yes it's been forever since I logged in here! My break from comics has lasted longer than I'd intended it to. It's not forever, but it'll still be a little while.

For anyone not keeping up with Daisy is Dead, the site just underwent some major changes. Freshman 15 is now being posted to the Daisy site to suppliment the now once a week updates of Daisy. This also keeps me making new F15's, even though they're no longer being published in UCR's newspaper (unless Taryn tells me otherwise!) Good things all around. Both comics are now in color, and I'll be dragging Daisy up to the visual quality of F15 (gonna try to make BOTH of em look better, really.)

For anyone about to freak out, Freshman 15 will still be posted here! In fact, this is where it'll be archived. But the updates will go up one day early on Daisy is Dead.

I'm the new graphics manager for the UCR Highlander, y'all! Woo!

I just got this message on my Facebook account:

"Hey, what's up? Where'd this week's comic go? My entire apartment has been waiting for the next one with bated breath, and lo and behold, no comic this week!
so sad...."

I didn't realize I had people on campus who actually miss my comic when it doesn't show up! Makes me feel all warm 'n fuzzy. ^^

Well a few things have changed since last year, so I figure it's time for an update here.

Got a new graphics editor. Cassie. She's awesome. Apart from being a much nicer and more organized person than Abe (and a southpaw! Pryeed!) she's also more honest, since apparently Abe was doing things like altering people's artwork before putting it in the paper (yuck!) She's also much more accepting of help when it comes to other people doing graphics for articles outside the comics page (I'll post those here...or maybe at my other account...I dunno...) And she's in my photography class, so I get to talk to her in person at least twice a week.

Cassie = good.

Also...uhm...well I guess that's it really. Hopefully I'll get to have lunch with Cruz and Kevin sometime soon, so we can discuss some fab story ideas.

I guess I should update this...

So for those of you who didn't find this comic by following the link in my other gallery ( ), Freshman15 is the comic strip I write for my college newspaper, the UCR Highlander. I make $10 for every comic that gets printed, and not every comic gets printed. This happens for various reasons: Abraham occasionally loses my comic strips before (and often after) thay get printed. Or it may be that no one at the Highlander office gets the joke, and therefore it never sees the light of day. So you people are at an advantage because you will get to see every comic I produce, BEFORE I even turn it in to the Highlander.

Abraham is a name you'll learn to know well. Abe is the Highlander's graphics editor. I rant about him a lot: make references to keying his car, etc. He's actually not a bad guy. He actually chose me to recieve last year's Comic Strip award (or whatever it's called...I can't be bothered to dig out my certificate right now.) That was nice...I got to go to a banquet and everything. My only real complaint is that he has a habit of losing the original strips that I turn in to him, so that I'm forced to scan newsprint copies to post here. I'll be eliminating that problem starting next quarter by scanning the comics before I turn them in to Abe (in fact, I think I'll just make a copy and give that to him. These things just MIGHT be worth something someday.)

Costo Hall, which I may mention, is where the Highlander office is located. It is on Kevin's list of Things To Set On Fire.

Around winter quarter of 2004, Kevin and Cruz decided they wanted to be part of the glory that is Freshman15, and contributed not only their images and personalities, but a vast number of ideas as well (submitted in the form of "Lindsay! Draw me hitting Kevin in the [body part] with a [random blunt instrument]!" or "Lindsay! Draw me setting Cruz's [body part/item of clothing/expensive electronic object possibly pirated from Lindsay] on fire!" and soforth.) They have contributed greatly to F15's rather chaotic yet often immensely funny nature (keep in mind that when I say immensely funny, it usually applies only to Kevin, Cruz and myself.) So I feel I should give them credit:

Yes it's finally here. With the arrival of a working scanner to the Smith household, I am finally able to bring you quality F15 comic goodness (note: quality not guaranteed.)

Now, due to Abraham's carelessness in the comic storage department, I do not have all the original comic pages, so some of these are scanned newsprints (*twitch*). I have done my best (and all my patience will allow) fixing them in Photoshop. Next quarter I'll just be scanning them BEFORE I submit them, so as to be sure of having a clear copy before turning the original over to the whims of the Highlander graphics editor.

Let's see...what else did I want to say here...
